Narrative writing.

This week we wrote narratives about a family going for a bush walk. This week we added a problem into our stories. We were able to include ideas from our Term Two learning about our native bush and birds.
You can see how our skills are developing.

One day a family decided to go for a walk in the bush. They had to pack some lunch and some drink. When they were ready they set off into the bush. They walked along the path. They saw a tui flying up in the trees. It was feasting on nectar. They walked to a wooden bridge. They walked over it. When they got over they saw a big kowhai tree. Next they saw a kereru swooshing down out of the kowhai tree. They kept walking down the path. There was a river. They saw another bridge so walked across it. Next they decided to have lunch. They sat down and opened the basket and had lunch. Then they carried on walking along the path. They saw a waterfall. The water was tumbling down. They kept walking up the track.
Mum fell over and sprained her ankle. Ella had the first aid kit. She pulled out a bandage. She put it on mum. Mum felt a bit better. Finally they got to the lookout and they got a beautiful view of Waitangi and Russell.

One day Bree and Max went to the bush with their parents. They started to walk along the path. They saw a tui in a tree so they watched it for a while. Max said, “Can we go now?” so off they walked.
They saw a rimu tree which had fallen down across the path. They got stuck so Bree said, “Now how are we going to get to the lookout?”
They decided to walk around it. The kept walking until they reached the top.
The view was magnificent.

Jon and his brother were going for a walk with their Dad. First they got their bags ready. They got lunch, binoculars and birdseed to feed the birds.
They were off to the bush. When the saw a sign they walked into the bush. There were beautiful lancewoods and tui drinking nectar. They kept walking up the zigzag track. Then they saw a beautiful waterfall. It was big like their one at home.
But it started to rain, so they had to sit under a ponga fern. They decided to have some lunch and bird watch while they waited for the rain to stop. There were tui, fantails and robins.
They were almost there but they had to cross a wooden bridge.
They had done it and were happy!

One day Josh and Lilly went to the bush to see the trees. They saw a kowhai tree. They were tramping along the path when they heard some tui singing.
Josh and Lilly got to a bridge. They were scared because it was high. It went over a river. They decided to run across the bridge. They kept tramping along the path. A fantail was following them.
Suddenly Lilly started to cry. She had been stung by a bee. Josh had a first aid kit in his bag so he got out some vinegar and put it on her sting.
They kept walking to the lookout. When they got there they saw the view. It was amazing.

Jess and her brother were out on a walk together in the bush. Then suddenly a tui flew by then landed on a branch. They saw a sign that said, “No dogs or cats!”  They stopped to look at a beautiful waterfall. The sun was filtering through the trees. They decided to stop there and have lunch.
After that they started walking again then Jess fell over and grazed her knee. They washed her leg then kept walking until they reached the end of the track.
