A BUSY FIRST WEEK OF TERM

On Thursday 15th October we took part in the New Zealand Shake-out.
We practised  'Drop, Cover, Hold.'

After morning tea we received a surprise visit from Mark the manager at Countdown, We were very lucky because Countdown gave us a huge container of dominoes. There were so many, we sorted them and gave some to Rooms 0, 1 and 3.  They also gave us bottles of water, some delicious cakes and a crate of yummy apples.

THANK YOU COUNTDOWN!

October is 'Save Kiwi Month'
We decided to be part of the Great Kiwi Morning Tea and  raise some money for this worthy cause.
Thank you to all those parents who made batches of biscuit dough for us to make our Kiwi shaped biscuits. Rooms 2 & 3 raised $150 from the biscuits that we made and sold.

Kiwi really need our help. In unmanaged areas, we’re losing kiwi at a rate of up to 2% per year. That’s about 27 birds being killed every week by pests and predators. If we didn’t do anything,  we could lose kiwi in the wild within a couple of generations. There is lots of great work going on around the country to make sure this doesn’t happen, which is why our participation in the Great Kiwi Morning Tea was  important. –  The money raised will help with programmes like predator trapping, Operation Nest Egg, monitoring kiwi health and advocacy and education. All of which are keeping kiwi alive and well.
By all coming together and doing what we can, we know that the future of kiwi will be secure.

JUMP ROPE

We had a great time doing Jump Rope on the last day of Term Three. We showed the parents the skills we had learned. The school raised $558.10. This money goes to the NZ Heart Foundation.
