Matariki

Last week we celebrated Matariki.

After walking to the beach just after 6am it was back to school for breakfast. Unfortunately there was too much cloud for us to see Matariki this year.
We enjoyed making stars and kites.

For our shared lunch we made a delicious healthy quiche.

Everyone brought along other yummy food to share too.

After lunch we had great fun flying the kites that we had made.

Our Matariki day finished with a great show. You can see by our faces that we loved it!

Bird Beaks Investigation

We investigated how birds eat different foods. We had to select which tools were the most suitable to pick up seeds, worms, meat and insects. Mrs Cates our trainee teacher had rice for the seeds, some nuts, marshmallows on string for the meat and snake lollies for the worms. We then looked at different shaped bird beaks and how they are used.

Geometry

This term we are lucky to have Mrs Cates with us for eight weeks. Mrs Cates is a trainee teacher. She has been doing Geometry with us. We have been learning to name and describe 2D and 3D shapes.

Today we had a lot of fun making these 2D & 3D shapes.
