Welcome to our 2016 Blog.
We have been learning to do reading responses on the Explain everything app on our ipads.
We have learned how to take photos from our reading books and to complete activities that show we understand what we are reading.
Welcome to Room 2's blog! Paihia is in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. We hope you enjoy our blog. Please leave comments for us because we love receiving feedback about our learning.

NIGHT NOISES
This week we read this piece of writing by Joy Watson. We talked about the verbs the author used to make the writing descriptive. We then wrote about the noises that are made while we're asleep. We tried to use descriptive verbs.
We published our writing on the ipads.

Night Noises
In the night
Cats fight...
Spitting, scratching, hissing, howling
Chasing, racing, hunting, prowling...
Every night.
In the dark
Dogs bark...
One will start, the rest reply,
Shouting dog news to the sky...
When it's dark.
While we sleep
Hedgehogs creep...
Snuffling, snorting as they pass,
Making pathways through the grass...

FLOWER SHOW & PET DAY
We had a very busy and creative morning. We made colourful sand saucers, vaseline saucers and amazing models using fruit and vegetables. Mrs Davies thought our vaseline saucer petal designs were great. Some of us used our learning about symmetry in maths in our patterns.
Breeze has written this story about her day.
On Friday it was our Flower Show and Pet Day. We made vaseline and sand saucers. I made a pattern with petals for my vaseline saucer. I made a pattern with flowers for my sand saucer.
We made fruit and vegetable models. We made ladybugs, frogs, pigs and racing cars. We used apples, grapes, carrots, potatoes and cucumbers.
We made gingerbread men and we got to eat them at home. They were yummy. They tasted delicious.
I liked the lamb and the goldfish. I liked feeding the lamb because it was fun.
The lamb jumped, the goldfish swam and the dogs barked. The guinea pigs squeaked. Two rabbits ran away and everybody chased them.

ACTION WORLD
We had a fantastic time at Action World. In our writing we have used verbs and adjectives to describe one activity we did.
I zoomed down the water slide and it was fast. The water splashed on my face. It felt weird.
Zara
I climbed the steep stairs to the top and zoomed down the bouncy slide. It was very fast. It made me scared when I went up in the air.
Kaitlin
I zoomed down the water slide and bounced into the water at the end. The water was freezing. It splashed over me.
AJ
I climbed up the hill to the water slide. I slid down. It was fun. I was covered in water,
Vaughan
The water slide was slippery. When I slid down I could see the cars, slide and trapeze. I zoomed down very, very fast. At the bottom it was cold so I got out.

All Black Blackout Day
We wanted to give our support to the All Blacks and enjoyed dressing in black. We were so proud of them when they won the World Cup!
Stream Investigation
On Friday we joined Room 3 to walk up the School Road bush track to look at the stream. We looked carefully to see what creatures were living in the stream. We measured the temperature of the water and it was 16 degrees. We didn't see any rubbish in the stream which was good because when we looked at the stream by school there was a lot of rubbish in it.
After we had looked at the stream Gareth showed us rat, possum and stoat traps.
